Did you know that June marked the beginning of Parsons 75th Anniversary of being blessed to serve the Northwoods of Wisconsin? The celebration and resulting sale that accompanies it started last Thursday, June 24th. We had a very good turnout from the community for Thursdays event which featured numerous Parsons employees in the dunk tank, with our featured guest being mayor Bill Brandt! The girls basketball team served pizza that was supplied by Bucks Pizza and Parsons and took free will donations for their program. This two hour lunch event netted $160 for the Lady Robins. Friday was more "dunk tank" fun with many faces from Parsons taking their turn in the hot seat (including myself) as well as many "dignitaries" from our community including Eric Roller and Nate Musolff from the Antigo Police Department, Keith Wagner of Covantage Credit Union, and Fred Berner of the Antigo Daily Journal. Each of them graciously accepted their turn walking the plank. All-in-all, the dunk tank raised $638 benefiting many local nonprofit organizations, including Camp Susan, the Town of Wolf River Volunteer Fire Department, and the Langlade County D.A.R.E. program. The St. Johns of Pickerel Youth Group manned the Pepsi wagon on Friday offering brats with all the fixings and some delicious root beer floats! This proved to be a popular combination and after the donations had been counted, the youth group was pennies shy of netting $550 for the day! Thank you to everyone who graciously donated to these great causes which tallied an impressive $1,348 in donations in two days! It's always awesome to see what a community can accomplish when it bands together. On Saturday, we had our annual Customer Appreciation breakfast from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wayne Sparks once again whipped up his world famous potato pancakes, and the rest of us were busy on the griddle making the pancakes and sausage. All together, we had nearly 200 customers come down for our complimentary breakfast which has turned into something we annually look forward to. Since it is Parsons diamond anniversary, we have (locally) purchased a 1.38 carat diamond Journey necklace (valued at $2150) that we will give away to one lucky customer the week before Christmas (December 17th). To be eligible to win, stop in and sign up once per week, and we will draw a qualifier out every Friday. The box will then be emptied and the next week, everyone will have an opportunity to sign up again. All of our qualifiers will then be entered into a drawing the week before Christmas, where you will need to be present to win, but someone will take home an AWESOME early Christmas present! Thank you to everyone for allowing the Parsons family to serve this community for the past 75 years, and we look forward to serving you all well into the future! Until next month, Curt Parsons SATURDAY SALES HOURS Our Summer Saturday Sales Hours have changed! We were the top money-raising group out of 36 teams with a total of $8,400 and we won the Spirit Award. Kristy was one of the Honorary Chairpersons for the event and did a great job speaking in front of everyone. We walked all night long and many of us walked over 25 miles. Our goal was to bring hope to all whom cancer touches. The whole experience was very moving. Each of us has our own reasons for caring about the fight against cancer, but together we can help save lives and make a difference. Thanks to all who contributed in some way. We feel blessed to have had so many wonderful people be so kind. The big gumball jar that was here at the dealership and down at the Trio held 717 gumballs. The closest guess on that was Judy Price with 725. In the Chiclets jar that was also on display here and at the Trio, there were 5,388 pieces of gum in the jar. The winner was Dick McNutt, a customer of ours with a guess of 5,321. GM RECALL GM is recalling 1.5 million 2007-2009 model cars, trucks, and crossovers to disable a heated washer fluid system module that could pose a fire risk. Because the feature will be disabled, GM will make a voluntary payment of $100 to the owner of lessee of each vehicle. This payment is for the loss of the feature, not the recall. There are no known injuries or crashes related to the condition, but we want our customers to have complete peace of mind and want to make sure our customers can count on the safety and quality of their GM vehicle. Customers will begin receiving recall letters this month. Models included in the recall are the 2006-2009 Buick Lucerne, Cadillac DTS, Hummer H2; 2008-2009 Buick Enclave, Cadillac CTS; 2007-2009 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, Saturn Outlook, GMC Acadia, Sierra, Yukon, Yukon SL, and 2009 Chevrolet Traverse. 2011 CHEVROLET CRUZE The all-new 2011 Chevrolet Cruze will begin arriving in dealerships this September starting at $16,995. The Cruze offers more interior room, more miles per gallon in the Eco model, and more standard safety features than any of its competitors. It will be offered in four models: The Cruze LS, Cruze LT, Cruze Eco, and Cruze LTZ. 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX EARNS TOP SAFETY PICK AWARD The 2010 Chevrolet Equinox received the highest possible rollover protection rating of "Good" in the first insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) rollover tests of midsize SUV's and crossovers, one of four tests leading to the institute's Top Safety Pick Award. It recognizes vehicles that are on the top rung for safety and that have achieved the highest ratings for front, side, rollover, and rear crash protection, and that have electronic stability control to help drivers avoid serious crashes. The 2010 Equinox also received the highest possible five-star front and side impact ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, one of five 2010 Chevrolet models to earn five-star crash ratings. ONSTAR/GOOGLE PARTNER TO EXPAND NAVIGATION OnStar and Google have reached an agreement that will let OnStar users search for and identify destinations using Google Maps and send those destinations to the Turn-by-Turn Navigation Service in their vehicles. OnStar eNav will become available through Google Maps at the end of this month so drivers can get directions to their destination from wherever they are. This option will be available on all current Turn-by-Turn capable GM vehicles starting with the 2006 model year.
